It's London Marathon time!

News Category: Industry News

Good luck to the many of you who are running in this Sunday’s London Marathon.

These include our own Marathon Man EAT publisher Nat Daniels. He and his wife Tania have been stuck abroad. They are hoping to be repatriated from Spain today with their two children five days late, via (wait for this) a drive to Malaga airport; a flight from Malaga to Gerona, in the north of Spain; a taxi to Perpignan in France; driving through the night in a hired car to Calais; a cross-Channel ferry; and being met by Nat’s dad at Dover. But by yesterday afternoon, just as British skies were opening again, they hadn’t made it into France.

Personally, we think they will be too shattered to run the Marathon and should go and lie down in a nice, quiet side ward. However, they tell me that they will definitely be running for Shelter and you can support them by clicking on the link at the end.

(Any stories to top their volcanic attempts to get back to the UK will be welcome in your posts.)

Good luck also to Warwick Kent, son of Trevor, who will also be in the Marathon.

Cerebral palsy sufferer Warwick will be taking part for one mile alongside the courageous Major Phil Packer, who last completed the event in 14 days on crutches and raised £1m on the way. The pair are pictured.

This year, Phil has invited 26 disabled youngsters to join him for a mile, and raise money for their individual good causes.

Warwick, 25, will be raising money for the Calvert Trust, which has three residential adventure holiday centres where he can stay with able-bodied friends and family and enjoy activities such as abseiling, canoeing and climbing.

Warwick will be joining Phil for mile 11 at about 6.30pm on Sunday. Anyone wanting to support him should hit the Mile 11 Calvert Trust button on http://www.philpacker.com
