Landlords keen on securing professional tenants should consider hiring an interior designer, an expert has claimed.
According to Isobel McKenzie-Price, editorial director of Ideal Home Magazine, sprucing up the interior of residential lettings is a "smart move".
She said: "It's a smart move if you want to target high-earning young professionals...an interior designer can add just the right lifestyle touches to entice them to part with a top rent."
Recent research by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors suggested competition in the rental market is increasing, with a 13 per cent in the number of rental properties available during the last three months.
Meanwhile, according to website Accommodation for Students, demand for residential lettings among young professionals has increased as many struggle to find a way onto the property ladder.
According toSimon Thompson, co-founder and director of the website, noted: "Former student landlords are now renting to young professionals who can no longer afford to get on the property ladder."
