An industry expert has advised landlords that it is vitally important to choose the correct types of rental property if they want to continue to enjoy good yields.
Nigel Terrington, the chief executive of Paragon, explained that while the buy-to-let sector looked in rude health, it still was important that landlords did their research and picked appropriate property types when expanding their property portfolio.
"Although buy-to-let demand is strong across the UK, choosing the right property in the right area is key," he explained.
"The modest terraced property in towns and cities up and down the country has typically represented a good long-term investment proposition.
"Our data shows that terraced homes consistently generate above average yields, better than other property types."
Mr Terrington added that people who criticised buy-to-let landlords were overlooking the service they provided to millions of people.
"Many millions of people rely on the private rented sector for a roof over their heads. Like it or not, buy-to-let is here to stay and has a rosy future," he concluded.
