Landlords have benefited from a reduction in the time it takes for home information packs (hips) to be processed, according to figures from MyHomeInformationPack.
It is a requirement for any property purchase, which includes potential residential lettings, to provide a pack to new homeowners or residential landlords.
Research from the hips provider shows that the time it takes to exchange contracts has fallen from 52 days to just 32 in the 12 months to July 2008.
Mike Ockenden, director general at Ahipp, explained: "This is yet another example that hips, even in their incomplete state, are making a real difference to the time taken to exchange contracts.
"If all of industry that touches the home buying and selling process would put the consumer at the centre of their thinking then the benefits of hips as delivered by MyHomeMove would reach a lot more people."
