Assistance could be required if green properties are to become commonplace in the UK residential lettings market, it has been suggested.
British Eco Energy managing director Andrew Moore said green energy sources are attracting a greater interest from Britons.
He singled out wind turbines as a technology which has increased a lot in visibility.
Solar hot-water systems could become part of every house in the country, Mr Moore continued.
Wind turbines could require planning permission and people might need assistance in installing such devices, he noted.
Mr Moore added: "A lot of people are interested in wind turbines but it's still only a small proportion of people that actually go out and do something."
Landlords and letting agents could improve their properties' energy performance certificate ratings by making their portfolio greener.
Some 56 per cent of UK residents felt their estate agents did not know enough about energy-efficiency performance, according to an Energy Saving Trust survey in June.
