A guide to investment in the rental sector has stressed the importance of the letting industry within the health of the UK property market.
The annual Buy to Let Guide, from the Association of Residential Lettings Agents (Arla) and the Council of Mortgage Lenders, offers landlords advice on their profession amid current market conditions.
Investors considering letting agent software might be interested in the guide's features on legal obligations, tenancy agreements, insurance, tax and tenancy deposit protection.
The industry guide comes after the Rugg Report called for a greater recognition of small portfolio and individual private landlords.
Ian Potter, head of operations at Arla, commented: "In troubled times like these, the health of the private rented sector is vital."
He added: "People need to be housed regardless of the kind of tenure they take."
According to Rentright's residential rental price index, average monthly rent in the UK increased to £621 in November from £529 last month, but the figure is down from £836 in November 2007.
