Property owners, including landlords, are set to benefit from new government plans to make it easier to carry out home improvements.
That is according to Brian Berry, director of external affairs for the Federation of Master Builders (FMB), who said that the Planning Reform Bill, due to be implemented this October, will have a "very large impact" on homeowners.
He said that the bill would remove certain restrictions currently imposed on creating extra space in a property.
Mr Berry asserted: "It will become easier from October this year to create extra space in your home."
He explained that at the moment the law dictates that homeowners can expand their properties by a certain volume, meaning that often they could not extend their kitchen and have a loft conversion as well.
He added: "But, from October of this year
you will be able to have both.
"It means that people at last can have their loft conversion and extend their kitchen by an extra three metres at the back of the house."
