Sean Hickey, who ran a firm called Agent Serve that set out its stall as delivering website and marketing services to estate agents, is in police custody.
EAT ran a story in October 2008 warning readers about Hickey, who operated from Esher, Surrey.
Agent Serve was wound up soon after by solicitors acting for one of his aggrieved clients, Haydn Yemm of Complete Estate Agents in Rugby, Warwickshire.
A number of other angry customers contacted EAT, complaining they were owed thousands of pounds, after they paid up-front for work they said had not been done.
When last heard of, Hickey was involved in a business called Bloodhound Property in Guildford, Surrey.
Earlier this month he was arrested and remanded in custody, and has now appeared at Guildford Crown Court, where he admitted ten counts of fraud.
He is still in custody and will be sentenced on August 6.
