Finding the right letting agency to market a property should not be governed by just price, experts from Belvoir Lettings have advised.
For landlords, the first consideration should not be just on how cheap a letting agent's services are, claimed Craig Walker of Belvoir Lettings Camberley, as this may result in problems further down the line if tenants are not found quickly enough or if unsuitable occupants move into the property.
Gary Legge of Belvoir Bourne said: "Always look for honesty, integrity, quality of service, the knowledge of the staff and a professional approach."
For agencies themselves, "ARLA membership should indicate that robust procedures are in place", which can result in higher enquiries and increased business opportunities, added Harpreet Garcha of the company.
The Business Octopus insurance advisory firm has also recommended landlords should tailor their insurance around the type of tenants that they have. Mirroring Belvoir's advice, senior sales manager at the company Daniel Jewell claimed that the cheapest will not necessarily be the best.
