Landlords looking to add to their property portfolio with low-cost and environmentally-friendly buildings could consider investing in modular developments, an industry expert has said.
John Fitzgerald, director at Spacebox, explained that prefabricated houses were becoming increasingly popular and would allow landlords to expand their property portfolio comparatively cheaply.
In particular, Mr Fitzgerald said that landlords could benefit better manufacturing techniques to help them expand their portfolio quickly and economically.
"They're cheaper, better designed and more environmentally friendly," he added.
"It's all about volume though really, if you try to build one-off houses or you try to change the designs every time then the cost escalates very rapidly. One of the reasons that traditional houses are so expensive is that they are built one at a time."
Recently, the Business Mortgage Company suggested that the buy-to-let market in the UK will remain strong in the coming months.
She explained that economic uncertainty was encouraging some people to delay purchasing their own homes and rent while they wait to see what will happen in the future.
