Improving the energy efficiency of a property portfolio is not a difficult task for letting agents and landlords using rental software, it has been suggested.
According to Jane Gatiss, public relations manager for eaga and Warm Front, there are a number of simple steps homeowners can take to make their properties greener and generate savings on energy bills.
Since January 2008, domestic gas prices have increased by 44 per cent and electricity costs are up by 27 per cent, statistics from the National Energy Action have revealed.
Landlords could benefit from operating more energy-efficient properties as would-be tenants, since the introduction of energy performance certificates last month, can obtain information on the environmental performance of their rental accommodation.
Ms Gatiss said that something as simple as switching to one energy-saving light bulb can save £10 a year.
Home insulation and installing an energy-efficient boiler are additional green property management steps recommended by the eaga and Warm Front official.
