Employing the services of a letting agent to rent out properties can be an economical choice for a landlord, as it allows them to continue working full-time.
This is the view of Linda McCallion, lettings manager with Sherry FitzGerald Kavanagh, who stated that a good letting agent can help a landlord save money, reports the Galway Advertiser.
"A good letting agent will commence marketing of your property on websites, usually at a reduced cost, approximately four weeks prior to the termination of the existing tenancy," she noted.
This can reduce landlords' costs as they are less likely to have a property sitting empty for a length of time while they search for a new tenant themselves.
Ms McCallion added that landlords should particularly look for a letting agent that is trustworthy, as well as having good knowledge of the local area and plenty of experience.
Earlier this year, Tony Kavanagh of the letting agent told the Galway Advertiser that the lettings market has seen improvements during 2010.
