Eco-homes 'could be attractive to tenants'

This article was brought to you by Rentman, the premium property management system.

Landlords who invest in new eco-homes will be able to offer their tenants a better quality of life, an industry expert has said.

Cara Naden, a spokesperson for Ecos Homes, explained that the design features of eco-homes meant that their residents enjoyed more light and lower utility bills.

She explained: "The general cost of running the house is greatly reduced because the house is so efficient with heating.

"The home is designed to get maximum light, so you reduce the use of artificial lighting. Generally it's a better quality of life if you live in an eco-home."

Ms Naden added that more and more people were becoming aware of the environmental issues surrounding housing, meaning that landlords who invest early in eco-homes can be sure of demand in the future.

In addition, she explained that eco-homes "arebuilt with change in mind", meaning that they will continue to offer good returns for landlords even if the UK's climate changes.

"If there are very hot summers or very cold winters then that is something which is predicted to happen and they can deal with them," Ms Naden concluded.
