Two more local authorities have signed up to join the National Landlords Association (NLA) as associate members - Craven District Council and Thanet Borough Council.
The former covers an area in North Yorkshire, including the towns of Settle and Skipton, while Thanet covers part of eastern Kent that includes Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate.
David Salusbury, the chairman of the NLA, commented: "We are obviously delighted that Thanet and Craven have taken this course of action.
"I am sure this will be a relationship that will be of mutual benefit to all the parties involved. Good working relations with local authorities are central to our strategy of building a professional body for landlords in the private-rented sector and to developing strong ties with local authorities across the country.
"We hope that the strengthening of links between the private-rented sector andlocal councils will contribute to the creation of coherent housing polices that should benefit both landlord and tenant."
More than 80 local authorities are now associate members, helping to bring about a greater understanding between themselves and their local landlords.
