The changing focus of the lettings industry towards customer care could be creating an increasingly female-dominated environment, according to research by the National Landlords Association (NLA).
A survey of 500 property women conducted by the NLA revealed a perception that female letting agents are more attentive to the individual needs of tenants and have a greater perception of the property management sector as a customer-driven industry.
Women were also perceived as placing more of a focus on organisation and personal handling of tenant affairs.
ARLA president Lucy Morton backed the findings, stating that the lettings industry has become female-led over the past 26 years, and affirmed the importance of aftercare and attentiveness as drivers in this shift.
She said: "The consumer must always be the centre of attention and standards of professionalism across the sector must be maintained to the highest standards."
Earlier this week, the NLA announced that the High Court had dismissed the case brought against the association's merger with the National Federation of Residential Landlords.
