As cold weather takes a grip on the UK, landlords have been advised to ensure they check and prepare their properties for freezing conditions.
The Landlord Syndicate urged individuals to arrange a suitable time to visit tenants and give homes a once over both internally and externally.
"It is worth checking that all pipes and tanks in the loft are adequately insulated and that overflow pipes are connected and not blocked," chief executive officer of Total Landlord Insurance Eddie Hooker stated.
Ensuring the gutters and downpipes are clear and free from cracks was also recommended, while drain gratings should also not be covered by debris.
Landlords were advised to discuss the location of the stopcock and isolation valves with their tenants in case they have to turn off the water following a burst pipe or leak.
The Met Office has released a warning of 100 per cent probability of severe cold weather from today (February 2nd) until Sunday.
