Buyers can still find 'less expensive' property in Kent

Some parts of Kent still offer relatively affordable property prices, despite good commuter links to London and the improved Channel Tunnel service.

That is according to James Best-Shaw, a partner with Cluttons, who maintained that while west Kent was expensive, mid-Kent and east Kent were "considerably less expensive" than many other counties which border the capital.

He noted that property prices in Kent had not experienced the same huge increase seen in other commuter areas.

Mr Best-Shaw commented: "I think one of the advantages that Kent might have in the next year or so is that prices haven't gone up quite as much, they haven’t been as crazy as in Guildford and places like that."

He went on to predict that prices in the more expensive parts of Kent could experience a downturn.

He said: "Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells are the traditionally expensive towns in Kent, but one could argue that the prices have gone up so much that if there is going to be an adjustment they'll bomb."

Website hotproperty.com recently named Kent as one of the top ten most desirable property locations in the UK.
