Shrewd investors will be the ones to profit from the rented property market.
That is according to Peter Evans, managing director of Asset 360, a buy-to-let property company, who maintained that "serious investors" can do well in the property market, despite there having been much negative press about the industry.
Speaking to Landlord Expert, he said that those investors that were less experienced would panic in the current economic climate and miss out on good deals.
Mr Evans advised people looking at the property investment market to "have a strategy in mind".
He said: "Always do your homework and make sure that you are happy with the investment property deal you enter into. Always buy below market value to lower your investment risk and to provide you with a 'safety buffer'."
He added that there were "a number of elements" that madea good property investment, citing location as a particularly good indicator of rental demand.
