Buy-to-let market in Coventry and Warwickshire remains strong

The buy-to-let market in Coventry and Warwickshire has remained resilient in the wake of the credit crunch, a newspaper has reported.

According to the Coventry Telegraph, experts observed that the market continued to thrive during the end of last year and into 2008, despite the turbulent economic climate.

However, it was noted that buyers were now "taking a more measured approach".

David Shortland, managing director at Coventry and Warwickshire estate agents and chartered surveyors Shortland Horne, commented: "We did experience a considerable amount of activity in the buy-to-let market in the final quarter of 2007.

"That has continued but we have noticed that buyers are taking longer to purchase and there is probably less buying off-plan, because people can afford to wait and see what they are purchasing before making a decision."

Figures recently released by the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML) showed that the buy-to-let market was still strong, with the sector now accounting for 20 per cent of new mortgages.
