Buy-to-let investors to target London

London is set to be the main target area of the UK for letting agents and landlords looking to purchase property in the new year, research has shown.
According to a Young Group study, a third of property investors are planning to acquire property in the capital over the next 12 months.
Meanwhile, buy-to-let holders were also shown to be confident of holding on to their properties over the long term, despite the effects of the current economic crisis on the housing market.
Some 96 per cent of property investors said they plan to hold on to their purchases for at least a year, while 37 per cent intend to do so for at least ten years and 20 per cent targeted 15 years or more.
The Young Index has also shown that investors are more inclined to review their finances in the current economic climate, with almost one in four stating that they assess their options more than once every quarter.
House prices fell by 13.9 per cent between November last year and the same month in 2008, according to statistics published by Nationwide.
