Student landlords and lettings agents can currently expect a weekly rental income of £75 per tenant, it has been revealed.
New research conducted by Halifax shows that the area where rents are highest was in the south-west, where weekly rental income is £90.30.
Meanwhile, other regions where rents are above average included the south-east, the north-west and London, where weekly income for landlords stood at £86.50, £79.80 and £76.80 respectively.
By comparison, students in West Midlands paid a more affordable £53.40.
News of the findings come after separate research from accommodationforstudents.com found that the average rents paid by students have soared by more than 20 per cent over the last four years.
Lettings agents have attributed the increase to greater demand for rental accommodation from people who are delaying house purchases in the face of uncertainty in the UK home buying sector.
