Training and regulation remains an important part of the residential lettings market, according to the Association of Residential Lettings Agents (Arla).
Arla recently called for a licensing scheme for all letting agents to protect the consumer.
The association also suggested that letting agents should also become members of independent redress schemes.
Ian Potter, head of operations at Arla, claimed that training has been shown to have been an important part of the residential lettings sector.
He told Mortgages Solutions: "Many of these initiatives have proved to be applicable throughout all areas of the residential housing market.
"It is gratifying that so many of our existing compliance requirements and standards and our more recent proposals to move forward with self-regulation are evident in the Carsberg Review."
His comments follow recommendations in the Carsberg Review for more training and qualifications among residential letting agents.
Meanwhile, a new Housing and Regeneration Bill hopes to establish a reward system for landlords that are providing a good service to their tenants.
