Here’s today’s talking point: are women better at estate agency than men? And yes, we’re talking estate agency, not lettings, where of course women have long reigned supreme.
According to the organisers of the ESTAs (Estate & Letting Agent Awards), women estate agents are becoming more dominant and more successful.
In 2008 only 27% of winning sales offices were run by women, but this increased to 40% in 2009 and to 67% this year.
“A successful agent requires a multitude of skills – diplomat, marketeer and social worker – so perhaps there’s some truth in the saying that women are better at multi-tasking,” said ESTA organiser Simon Brown.
“It would also appear there may be a strong link between customer service provided and the profit.”
All six of Countrywide’s branches which won regional golds this year are run by female managers.
Grenville Turner, chief executive, said: “The ESTAs proves that there is a direct correlation between our most profitable agents and those that provide the best customer service.”
