Andrews & Partners, the estate agents owned by three charities, has handed over £350,000 to its shareholders.
The company, which has over 80 branches across the south, was founded in 1946 by the humanitarian and entrepreneur Cecil Jackson Cole, who believed that business acumen and commercial success could work for the benefit of wider society. He helped found Oxfam, Action Aid and Help the Aged.
He also set up three registered charities – now known as the Andrews Charitable Trust, the Christian Book Promotion Trust and the Christian Initiative Trust – which today remain the only owners of Andrews & Partners.
Among the causes that will benefit from this year’s dividend is a scheme that helps young homeless mothers in Bristol.
