Landlords who are considering an investment in home improvements within their property portfolios could benefit from the current financial climate in the UK.
Property expert Chris Martin, an architect at home improvements information firm theHousePlanner, said there has been a fall in demand in the industry since the onset of the credit crunch, which is affecting builders and architects.
As a result, landlords who opt for the service will enjoy a faster rate of work on improvements to their properties, Mr Martin noted.
"The toughening economic climate means that architects and builders will price jobs more keenly," he added.
Landlords whose property portfolios include listed buildings should be aware that these homes are protected under UK law, with special consent required for any improvements to be carried out.
However, owners of grade two listed buildings can receive a grant from the English Heritage if urgent repair work is required.
